1401 Engineering Graphics (Common for all branches)
Time : 3 Hrs Max. Marks : 80 Min. Pass Marks : 28
Note : Attempt all questions on drawing sheet only. All questions carry equal marks. Make suitable assumptions wherever necessary.
1. Attempt any two parts of the following:
(i)A rectangular plot of land area 0.45 hectare is represented on a map by a similar rectangle of 5 cm2. Calculate the R.F. of the scale of the map. Also draw the scale long enough to measure upto 400 metres and to read upto single metres from the map.

(ii) A circle of 40 mm diameter rolls on the outside of a base circle of the same diameter. Draw the curve traced by a point of the same diameter. Draw the curve traced by a point on the rolling circle fro one complete revolution of the rolling circle.

2. Attempt any two parts of the following:
(i) A straight line AB, equally inclined to HP and VP has its end A in front of the VP and 20 mm above HP. End B is behind VP and 40 mm below HP. A point on this line is in VP and 10 mm below HP. The distance between the end projectors is 60 mm.

(ii) A wireless aerial tower 20 m high is tied at top by two guy ropes having angles of depression of 30º and 45º. The other end of guy ropes are connected to two poles at heights of 5 m are 2.5 m respectively. The two poles are 12 m apart. Draw projections of the arrangement and determine lengths of guy ropes.
(iii) An isosceles triangle ABC, base 60 mm and altitude 40 mm has its base AC in the HP and inclined at 30º to the VP. The corners A and B are in the VP. Draw its projections.

4. A cone base 60 mm diameter and axis 60 mm long is lying on the ground on one of its generator with the axis parallel to the VP. A vertical section plane parallel to the generator which is tangent to the ellipse (for the base) in the top view, cuts the cone bisecting the axis and removing a portion containing the apex. Draw its sectional front view and true shape of the section.

5. A cone of 64 mm diameter and axis 70 mm long, resting on its base on HP is penetrated by a horizontal cylinder of 30 mm diameter and 90 mm long, the axis of which is 20 mm above the base of the cone. The axis of the penetrating cylinder is parallel to both the VP and HP and is 5 mm away from the axis of the cone. Draw the projections of solids showing curves of interpenetration.
